from the Webmaster: The
images above and the information below (with slight modification) were
provided by Richard H. Emmet, great, great, great, great grandson of the Patriot's older brother, Thomas Addis
Emmet, a leader of the United Irishmen
in 1798.
From Richard H. Emmet:
"The statue of Robert Emmet in Dublin stands
just off the sidewalk on the western edge of St. Steven's Green nearly
opposite the Royal College of Surgeons. The statue faces the site
just to the north of the College where the Emmet house once stood
overlooking the Green. The house has been
demolished and the site has been a building lot now for several years.
I don't know what the plans are for it.
I saw the statue when I attended the Emmet family reunion in Dublin in
June 1998, and again when I was in town on business this April. I
have attached two photos which I took in 1998. The boy in the second
picture is my son, Robert H. Emmet, who is the great, great, great, great,
great grandson of the Patriot's older brother Thomas Addis Emmet, who was
a United Irishmen leader in 1798."
